IM-Technology

The future requirements for explosives and munitions will strive towards more insensitive explosives, so called insensitive munitions. At Forcit we have realized the importance of the matter early on and have created Insensitive Munitions PBX-products to be used as warheads or boosters for various weapon systems application.

Enhanced Product Safety Without Compromising Effectiviness

Forcit FPX products fulfill their performance and operational requirements, but minimize the probability and violence of a munitions’ response to accidental / hostile stimuli. The main principle in Forcit FPX production is to enhance the properties of the products to match or surpass the performance of related non-IM products.

Awarded IM-Technology

Forcit received an IM award for technical achievements for significant contributions in research and and/or engineering in the area of Insensitive munitions in April 2006. The price was awarded for achieving EIDS properties for FOXIT underwater explosive. The price was granted by NATO’s Munitions Safety Information Analysis Centre, MSIAC.

FOXIT

Plastic Bonded Explosives (PBX) have so far been the most important solution for insensitive munitions. The principal idea is to decrease the sensitivity by diluting the explosive ingredients in polymer matrices.

OY FORCIT AB has succeeded in achieving EIDS-properties for a cast-cured plastic bonded explosive for underwater use. The product name of this explosive is FOXIT.

Forcit DFC 2010

Forcit has provided a new generation Insensitive Munitions solution for directed fragmentation charges.

The Forcit DFC 2010 System is designed to respond the high technical and operational requirements for directed fragmentation charges in the future. More insensitive munitions characteristics are required without compromising performance. Forcit DFC 2010 system can face these requirements and it has full IM-characteristics.
